On July 11th at 11 AM BRT (9:00 AM CST), Indorama Ventures presented via the Teams platform an educational and insightful session specifically designed for professionals looking to deepen their knowledge and expertise in high-performance solvents.
Husley Morales, our Specialist R&D Researcher for Home Care, and Guilherme Condutta, our Marketing Analyst for Home & Personal Care, were the speakers for this event. They shared valuable information about the market landscape, consumer profiles, and the highlighted features of our solvent product line.
Webinar Highlights:
Solvents are crucial for formulations focused on cleaning and degreasing;
They serve a wide range of applications and can vary significantly in their characteristics;
This class of chemicals plays a vital role in applications such as air fresheners, detergents, and cleaners;
Opportunities to select the best solvent suitable for each product’s value proposition;
Interactive Q&A session. Watch the full content and learn more about our expertise in glycolic solvents and green cleaning, as well as how we explore new sustainable alternatives:
High-Performance Solvents for Household and I&I Applications
Considering that blood is a representative stain in hospital fabrics, which is a protein derived dirt, the use of low polarity solvents is recommended. They interact very well with proteins, which are considerably hydrophobic.
When we explore the universe of solvents, we have several possibilities. When we talk about solvents with a more hydrophilic character (Ultrasolv line), we can present the cost-benefit differential in dosage for degreasing performance. But when we talk about hydrophobic solvents (Alkest LV1400) we can present the differential in sustainability (renewable raw materials and concentrated formulations to minimize the use of water resources).
Ultrasolve H 2440 is stable in acidic formulations and its performance is unaffected in different pH ranges. On the other hand, products with an ester molecular structure are not suitable for acidic formulations at pH < 4.0, due to their intrinsic hydrolysis properties.
Younger consumers are looking for more sustainable alternatives with more informative and user-friendly labeling. The concept of functional green also fits into this context, as the industry is trying to find a balance between sustainability and hygiene, without compromising product performance.
The use of the HSP tool considerably reduces the workload in laboratory tests. A more directive approach to the dirt-solvent pair minimizes trial and error.
The application is well presented in the presentation. However, we recommend the use of Ultrasolve mainly in surface cleaners in the most diverse categories (multi-purpose, degreasing, heavy cleaning and glass) as an alternative to glycol solvents.
We recommend the use of low-polarity solvents, as they have greater synergy and interaction with the heavier dirt present in the kitchen (oils, fats, carbonized substances).
