Digitalization makes the product analysis process faster and more sustainable

In the constant pursuit of operational excellence, Indovinya has always invested in automation to optimize processes, increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve safety. Now, with digitalization and the internet of things (IoT), new possibilities open up to the industry.

Conformity analysis of products in manufacturing, for example, is usually manual: an operator halts production, takes a sample and sends it to the laboratory for analysis. Hours later the result arrives.

In 2021, Indovinya’s Innovation and Automation teams implemented a pilot project with the startup XMachina, challenged to test the feasibility of a tool to analyze production in real-time without the need to take samples and analyze them in the laboratory.

After several tests, adjustments, and a successful proof of concept, the project validated the reliability of in line and online analysis by comparing digital images with the reference data from the final product. The new method maintains the reliability of the results and has the potential to reduce production time for one of our products by about 12%.

The innovative project has great potential to replicate the benefits of operational safety, time optimization, and reduced production cost on a large scale. For now, it is in operation at the Indovinya plants in Mauá and Tremembé, in São Paulo state, Brazil.
