Oxiteno’s Statement About COVID-19 | November 2020

Posted in: 10 December, 2020

Mexico City, November 24th, 2020

Dear Sir/Madam,

We hope you are all safe and well. We are getting to the end of the year, and there is no end in sight to the COVID-19 pandemic. We believe that continuous communication with our stakeholders is essential. This letter provides you with some updates and thoughts from Oxiteno related to this very particular year.

Despite suffering minor disruptions to some of its raw materials supply chain, mostly unrelated to the pandemic, Oxiteno has managed to keep its operations across the globe running normally thanks to the fantastic efforts of our dedicated personnel.

More than 110 of our employees worldwide that tested positive for COVID-19 have gone back to work now. Although we are still seeing some cases, the situation has been controlled by our relentless efforts to protect the workplace and raise awareness about Oxiteno’s health and safety recommendations globally.

We know that long-term solutions, such as vaccines, are highly dependent on health authorities and governments, so anything that can be done by Oxiteno is being considered. This includes the stepping up of our communications efforts with employees and their families about COVID-19 safety recommendations, especially during the forthcoming holiday season.

The majority of our admin employees is still in home office, and Oxiteno is observing the evolution of the pandemic in all regions, and depending on the local trends we may have more or less flexibility to work from our offices, but anyway in a highly controlled and protected environment. Our HSE department is continuously managing the workplace, and we are confident that the COVID-19 barriers implemented internally are keeping our employees safe.

This challenging year has proven how vital safety is to us and that the only way to ensure the continuity of the business is to keep our people safe and healthy.

Finally, we believe that being on the same wavelength as our suppliers and customers has made a considerable difference this year. Although the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on society may be far from over, we envision a more hopeful future, continuing this partnership with all of our stakeholders. We hope this is a shared view of the future.

Best regards,

Carlos Brasil
