In the formulations of water-based architectural paints, the coalescents have a key role in latex film formation. These molecules mainly act in the final stage of particle coalescence. In practice, coalescents are solvents that plasticize the polymeric phase in paints, enamels, and adhesives formulations, reducing their minimum film formation temperature and enabling particle deformation, as well as the interdiffusion of polymeric chains.
Indovinya invests heavily in its coalescent portfolio. Through its dedicated professionals’ in-depth technical knowledge in Coatings and its high production capacity, the company designs new technologies that meet this market’s needs.
The ULTRAFILM® line, its portfolio of coalescent solutions for the different categories of architectural paints, provides unique alternatives with innovative technologies such as low-VOC and low odor.

Emulsions are dispersed systems comprised by immiscible or partially miscible substances. Dispersing and stabilizing these substances is possible due to the action of emulsifiers, which are surfactants capable of forming small droplets that will hold the dispersed phase in the continuous phase (medium). The surfactants are responsible for controlling the particle size of the droplets, guaranteeing the mechanical stability and assuring the quality and properties of the emulsion within the shelf life. . The emulsifier’s molecule has a polar portion (water miscible – like polyoxyethylene) and a non-polar portion (water imiscible – like alkyl chains). For coatings applications, they are essential for emulsification processes of resins and polymers and for the production of polymers in aqueous medium – process known as emulsion polymerization.
Indovinya provides a broad portfolio of efficient surfactants for emulsion polymerization and resin emulsification. Products that minimize clot formation in the reactor and generate emulsions with greater stability and high solids. The OXIMULSION® emulsifier line comprises APE-free primary surfactants for emulsion polymerization (e.g. acrylic, styrene-acrylic, and vinyl-acrylic) and resin emulsification (e.g. alkyd).
They allow the formulator to obtain latex with controlled particle size, high stability, high solids and good performance while attending market needs such as low toxicity and low VOC. These enhancements, such as high solids formulations, bring economic benefits to the entire chain.
Emulsifying agents are surfactants added to emulsion processes to increase their stability, making them stable and homogeneous. An emulsifier molecule has a polar part (compatible with water) and a nonpolar part (compatible with the polymer). They are essential for the emulsion polymerization process.
Indovinya offers a broad portfolio of efficient surfactants for emulsion polymerization and resin emulsification. Products that minimize clot formation, generate greater film stability and maximize solids.
The OXIMULSION® line consists of APE-free primary surfactants for emulsion polymerization (e.g. acrylic, styrenic and vinyl latexes) and resin emulsification (e.g. alkyds). The main attributes of this line include superior performance to ethoxylated alkylphenol-derived surfactants, enabling high particle, viscosity and conversion control, low VOC, low toxicity and high solids content. In short, OXIMULSION® emulsifiers allow the formulator to obtain latex with low toxicity, high stability and performance. These optimizations, such as high solids content formulations, bring economic benefits to the entire chain.
In a paint formulation, additives are surfactants that aid both the manufacturing process and the performance of the product.
One of the most critical steps during paint manufacturing is the process of dispersing pigments in the medium, which requires a high demand of energy and time. Pigment wetting and dispersing agents are essential to assist in this step. They ensure adequate homogeneity, stability and viscosity, facilitating the incorporation of colorants to add value to the final product.
The OXITIVE® line was developed based on these needs and market trends. Composed of multifunctional surfactants, it allows the formulation of high-performance, competitive and more sustainable paints, with low VOC (volatile organic compounds), APE-free (free of ethoxylated alkylphenol) and low foam formation. Its high pigment wetting capacity and wide HLB range allow greater flexibility to the formulator.
Building blocks are alkoxylated polyalcohols and functional monomers used in various paint formulations. Their effective technologies ensure high performance in paint systems, improving their resistance, appearance, flexibility, stability, among others.
The ULTRATINT® line is composed of functional molecules that can be used both as monomers for the synthesis of polyester, alkyd, polyurethane and epoxy resins, as well as directly in the formulation of industrial paints. The line contributes to the adjustment of properties such as hardness, adhesion and resistance for a high-performance coating.
