KEMELIX® demulsifiers improved production while optimizing chemical and water utilization
Specialty chemical and surfactants producer Indovinya showcased advanced technologies for oilfield technology, home care, and industrial & institutional markets during the annual meeting of the American Oil Chemists Society, held in New Orleans.
Indovinya’s technical experts led 15 seminars highlighting significant advancements in chemical technologies that support high-performance solutions across diverse applications, serving both energy and consumer segments.
Among these, Indovinya demonstrated its technical expertise in demulsifiers through five sessions focused on high-performance, efficient solutions for the oil industry. Demulsifiers, which are chemical additives designed to break emulsions and enable the efficient separation of oil and water, were a key topic of discussion.
According to Madhav Kolli, Indovinya’s Global Director for Energy and Resources, this separation step proved essential to optimizing production, reducing chemical consumption, improving crude oil quality, enhancing operational efficiency, and better managing produced water.
Supported by its KEMELIX® portfolio of 20 demulsifier products, acquired in November 2024, Indovinya reinforced its strong track record of performance across a wide range of crude oil separation applications.
Additional presentations for the energy and resources markets addressed topics such as surfactant manufacturing for enhanced oil recovery, viscosity reduction for certain crude oils, and corrosion inhibitors, among others.
For Home Care and Industrial & Institutional markets, Indovinya experts delivered presentations on:
- A dual-function fragrance solubilizer designed to improve both fragrance delivery and cleaning performance;
- AI-driven surfactant design using machine learning;
- Optimization of surfactant systems in laundry detergents through design of experiments;
- New chemistries developed to replace propylene glycol in liquid laundry packets;
- Comparative studies on cleaning efficacy for degreasing hydrophobic soils;
- Optimization of nopol alkoxylates molar ratios for use in laundry formulations;
- Sulfate-free laundry detergent formulations;
- A novel polymeric surfactant developed for dye transfer inhibition and soil removal in both household and I&I applications;
- A new green solvent derived from upcycled raw materials for household and I&I cleaning formulations;
